Intensive Care

Sunnybank Private Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit provides care to critically ill patients with a wide range of conditions.

The Intensive Care Unit is located in the main building, with easy access to operating suites, and services.

The six bed ICU provides care to intensive care and high dependency patients post major surgery, and also patients from surrounding emergency departments and wards. These patients receive care under the supervision of one of four intensive care specialists. 24 hour medical cover is provided by the in-house Medical Officer.

Nursing care across the Intensive Care Unit is provided by nurses with, or working toward, post-graduate qualifications in intensive care and/or coronary care nursing.

The Intensive Care nursing team and the in-house medical officer provide expert outreach support to the facility via Rapid Response Team calls. This team is called to patients who are displaying signs of clinical deterioration; the team can provide appropriate assessment, intervention and escalation of care as required.
